BlogHer creates a series of interactive lectures that take place across the US, each summit highlighting a different topic ranging from food to health to entrepreneurship. I’ve been following these diverse conversations for a while now, so when BlogHer invited me to speak at its September 2019 Creators Summit, I was ecstatic! To join the stage with fellow empowering women including Sarah Jessica Parker, Connie Britton, and Keke Palmer was humbling. I spoke about the importance of morning routines and how to have the best day ever.
Mornings are the time where we are the most vulnerable and the most impressionable. It’s important we don’t spend our very first minutes waking up looking at our phones and social media. Morning’s are a good time to practice gratitude to set the tone for our day. When we think of all that we are grateful for, we realize we have a lot. We want to think in abundance, not scarcity, because what we focus on is what we get.
Many times I feel myself and others reach for our phones for no apparent reason. While we check for new or missed notifications, we are more so doing it to feel connected, or out of habit. It’s perfectly natural to feel this – we all do! But we can minimize this feeling, and create new and better habits by ignoring our phones for the first few moments of the day. This will prime your mind and allow yourself to devote your energy inward, and help you start your day in the best way possible. Take a look at this highlight clip below!
